How to Liven up your Garden Fencing

When planning a garden, most people think a lot about the landscaping and the planting. Not everyone thinks about how their fencing could enhance the effect. But the fences that delineate your boundaries, or divide your plot, are just like the walls of the rooms in your home. They are the walls of your outdoor rooms, and they can be selected and decorated in the same way that you use indoor walls as a background for your chosen decor.

Show off Some Artwork

For residents of Hornchurch, Romford or Brentwood, fencing could be painted in rainbow colours to make a fun statement along one side of an outdoor room. Then we would recommend they pick a more neutral shade for the rest of their fencing to act as a backdrop for colourful planting, perhaps interspersed with a few pieces of garden sculpture.

You could even hang weather-proofed artwork on a garden fence as the centrepiece of an eye-catching garden feature. Of course it’s more common for fences to be used to support hanging flower baskets which can look just as effective and be changed during the year to match the seasons.

Paint to Match Other Features

When fencing is carefully maintained, it can be painted to blend with any colour scheme. Some Essex fencing is carefully matched to decking, summerhouses or sheds. In gardens with large trellis panels, the effect is often echoed with smaller panels of decorative trellis topping the fences.

With a little imagination, you can make your fences reflect the character of your garden and your own taste and character. There is no need for fencing ever to be boring.
